  1. So many bad touches. Zardes (from Dempsey), Dempsey (Wood’s cross bounces up off his foot), Wood (the bad clearance from Ecuador’s defender).

That said, some really good interplay, 1v1s and attacks in the 2nd half.

I’m pretty sure we will come out with the 1st half team against Colombia and got for the tie.

But against CR & Paraguay, I’m hoping for the lineup in the 2nd half.

  2. I hadn’t noticed this last night, but on the winning goal, all the Ecuador players were ball watching and left Nagbe totally unmarked. Nobody was within 5 yards of him. So, it was a real breakdown in their defense. I’m sure their coach will point that out to his defenders.

    • Look again. Number 4 gets hurt on the landing and stays too far back. He doesn’t even make a move to the ball after the header

      • Paredes (#4, plays for watford) had a terrible clearance on the header to begin with, prior to the injury. We were on our toes and opportunistic. Good goal, glad Nagbe got it.

    • I noticed too that DN was unmarked. At first, that seemed to take away from the goal, but it was the 90th minute, and those kinds of defensive breakdowns happen in games that count when defenders get tired.

In addition, his volley was struck right at the keeper who, for some odd reason, decided to dive to his right. But it’s likely that if the keeper had stayed standing and the volley had hit his legs, Pulisic was there for the rebound.
