England’s Euro 2016 push started with yet another prototypical setback.

Up a goal in stoppage time, the Three Lions surrendered a headed shot from Vasili Berezutski to drop two points in a 1-1 draw. Despite the late goal, the match was overshadowed by fan violence, as supporters clashed before, after and during the match.

After having the better of the first half, England finally broke through through Eric Dier in the 73rd minute. The Tottenham midfielder pushed England into the lead from a set piece, blasting a free kick past Igor Akinfeev. Berezutski’s late header stole a point, though, as the Russian’s shot looped up and over Joe Hart and the rest of the England defense to seal a 1-1 draw.

BALE, WALES SLIP PAST SLOVAKIA

Gareth Bale scored early for Wales, but it was another Welch striker that played hero on Saturday against Slovakia.

Hal Robson-Kanu provided the game-winner in the 81st minute, leading Wales in a 2-1 defeat of Slovakia on Saturday.

Bale opened the scoring in the 10th minute by blasting a free kick for Wales’ first major competition goal since the 1958 World Cup. Ondrej Duda provided the equalizer in the 61st minute, but it was Robson-Kanu that pushed the Welch to a statement victory to emerge atop Group B.

SWITZERLAND TOPS 10-MAN ALBANIA

It wasn’t the prettiest performance of all time, but Switzerland took care of business against Albania.

In a match that pitted brothers Granit and Taulant Xhaka on opposite sides, the Swiss topped Albania, 1-0, in Group A play.

Just five minutes into the match, Fabian Schär fired the Swiss into the lead, and they would never relinquish it. A red card to Albania defender and captain Lorik Cana swung the momentum even further towards the Swiss, while Colorado Rapids forward Shkelzen Gashi saw a golden opportunity with just minutes remaining.
