Brian Rowe was a man on a mission in net on Wednesday night, while the Galaxy attack continued its struggles in front of goal.

The LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids played to a 0-0 tie at StubHub Center, as both sides failed to find a way past the opposing goalkeeper.

The 27-year-old LA Galaxy shot-stopper made his first key stop in the 32nd minute when Marlon Hairston was sent forward on a breakaway. Rowe comfortably stood his ground, though, keeping the Rapids off the board.

Hairston was among the most dangerous attackers for Rapids on the night, forcing two key saves out of Rowe, while Nigel de Jong was the most active in the attacking third for the Galaxy.

Despite being quiet most of the match, the Galaxy had an opportunity to secure a winner in the 78th minute when Emmanuel Boateng’s close-range effort was blocked off the line by Dennis Castillo. The sequence began down the right flank after Sebastian Lletget broke free and beat defender Axel Sjoberg to get off a cross.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Brian Rowe has quickly become one of MLS’ top keepers, and Wednesday’s performance showed exactly why.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

After failing to muster up many opportunities in the match, Emmanuel Boateng’s shot from inside the penalty area with 12 minutes remaining tested the Rapids backline, but Dennis Castillo’s perfect positioning kept the Galaxy off the scoresheet.

MATCH TO FORGET

In his first game back from injury, Giovani dos Santos wasn’t as active as he would have liked, and failed to manage a shot on target for the Galaxy.

  1. If this is the future of the Galaxy the future does not look bright. Lletget looked exhausted, Magee looked slow, Dos Santos looked like a man without ideas, a bad thing for someone wearing a number 10 shirt. At least Gerrard provided a spark, but he’ll be gone after this season. Keane and Zardes can’t get back here soon enough.

  2. You know the Rapids get little respect when it is not even mention they extend their at the too of the West, have the best record in MLS and have an 11 match unbeaten run. Sigh………..

    • Yup- and consistently getting points on the road, even without Jones, Howard and Gashi. They have almost equaled their points total from last year
