Soccer Sunday: Your Running Commentary

Argentina+v+Chile+Group+Copa+America+Centenario+857IzQXYKf7l

There’s a possibility of a new champion being crowned on Sunday night at the Copa America Centenario, while last year’s victor has its shot at a repeat.

Argentina and Chile will do battle from MetLife Stadium to determine the Copa America champion. The two sides met in the opening match of Group D play, with La Albiceleste capturing a 2-1 win.

A trio of Euro 2016 matches will be played on Sunday, beginning with hosts France taking on Ireland. Following that match will be Germany-Slovakia and Hungary-Belgium, as the tournament looks to name three more quarterfinalists on the day.

In MLS, the lone match of the afternoon sees to Western Conference sides below the playoff line face off at Providence Park. The Portland Timbers and Houston Dynamo will meet in a critical matchup as the season nears the halfway stage.

  1. But for a couple of late heroics from Payet, the French have been utter garbage this tournament. Let’s hope the leprechauns can pay them back for that disgraceful Henry handball…hope the Irish don’t begin defending too deep in the second half…
