Following their crucial 4-0Â win against Costa Rica on Tuesday, the U.S. Men’s National Team seeks a spot in the quarterfinal with a result against Paraguay.
U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann will employ the same starting XI for the third straight match on Saturday night, which includes veteran forces Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones.
The USMNT back four will look to continue to build off of its newfound chemistry, with DeAndre Yedlin, John Brooks, Geoff Cameron and Fabian Johnson earning starting roles. The U.S. attack will feature Gyasi Zardes, Bobby Wood and Dempsey, although the formation Klinsmann uses is still undetermined.
Paraguay will make four changes following their 2-1 loss against Colombia, including the additions of defenders Fabian Balbuena and Victor Ayala.

Enjoy the action.
I have criticized Zardes’ touch as much as anyone. But today he showed good control many times in traffic. There were a few occasions where he looked like the other Gyasi. But all in all, he was as good as anyone holding the ball. I though Wood was very strong as well (all though he was going postal a few times) after the red to Yedlin.
I’m not even.made at Zardes for inexplicably not shooting first time on that break. Strong work from him today.
everybody showed a lot of heart out there after Yedlin’s brain fart. All the yellow cards are a concern, but you can’t fault the men for their passion.
I’m not sure they are — I think they get cleared after the quarters
That’s what I think as well.
We almost got CONCACAF’d
You’re kidding, right? We were lucky to finish with 10. Glad we are advancing, but these types of performances are hardly things to celebrate.
Really?
How were we almost “CONCACAF’d?” We played like thugs for the most part of the game.Very little in the way of skill or possession. Even before we went down to 10, the players of the game were going to be a CB and our keeper. This against the might Paraguay…
20 fouls committed. 35% possession. And some of our longest strings of possession actually came down a man when we were killing the game. We might have won, but this is not progress.
Could we not use Nagbe’s technical ability right now over Zusi?
Oh good grief Zardes…
And now, we are having a meltdown ?
You suck, Yedlin. And , Klinsmann, you suck for picking him.
Unbelievably stupid by Yedlin. No excuse have to understand the situation
Yedlin you idiot!!!???
DLOA- That was ripe for a Sunderland LOL!
lol…. No clue why zardes is out there?
Cautiously optimistic at the half up 1-0. If we keep giving up counterattack options we’re eventually going to give up a goal. Lets put up a big, emphatic W.
Bradley wasted atleast 1 free kick and 2 corners in the 1st half. Zardes with the silkiest touch and highest soccer IQ of any player on the field during the 1st half, except for maybe Brooks.
I love it that gyasi shut me and the other doubters up with that first half performance
Credit to Zardes for taking on and beating 2 defenders to cross for Deuce’s goal.
Zardes great cross to Dempsey……suck it haters
Just a matter of time.
I guess so.
Brooks. That was a class play stopping 3 v 1 chance.
Go NATS! Wouldn’t be a US match without an early moment of potential defense calamity. 🙂
Clint is a beast playing with that black eye. I could not do it.
I would have preferred all action zusi to start.
I was hoping Zardes would be replaced…
So many people @ replying on Twitter to Ives and TSS feel the same way.
I disagree. P-Sick is more skilled and maybe has a higher soccer IQ, but Zardes is a physical beast and puts in dirty work on both ends. Plus the chemistry we’re building up right now, P-Sick is the better sub.
P-sick? No. Just no.

What have they done with Klinsman?!?!?
