Cropper training with Minnesota United following MK Dons departure

Cody Cropper is currently clubless, but the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team goalkeeper has found a temporary training spot with his hometown team.

Cropper, who moved to Minnesota at age 12, has been training with the NASL’s Minnesota United for the past several weeks, a club official confirmed to SBI. The 23-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract with MK Dons expired upon the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, has not been training with the team during official sessions, however, but has participated in unofficial sessions before and after Loons practices.

The goalkeeper made 12 total appearances for MK Dons last season before a shoulder injury sent him towards surgery. The training stint with Minnesota United is currently being used as a rehabilitation stint, and is not currently seen as anything more.

In April, Cropper revealed that Minnesota United and Atlanta United would be the two MLS teams that he would consider moving to, should the opportunity arise.

“There are really only two teams I have a desire to play for – Minnesota United and Atlanta United,” Cropper told FiftyFive. One back in March. “I have personal ties to both cities, and I would love to end up there. I know [Minnesota United president] Nick [Rogers]. We’ve had a few conversations about them buying my rights in MLS or bringing me in down the road. At this point, though, time will tell what ends up happening.”

Cropper, who has featured for both the U.S. U-20s and U-23s throughout his career, has earned two call-ups to the U.S. Men’s National Team, but has yet to earn a cap.

What do you think of the news? Would you like to see Cropper with Minnesota United someday? Where do you expect him to end up?
