Euro 2016 final: France vs. Portugal (Your Running Commentary)

5436

Fresh off an impressive win over Germany in the semifinals, hosts France look to hoist the European Championship for a third time on Sunday afternoon.

Les Bleus will meet Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal at the Stade de France as the Portuguese seek their first major title in the nation’s history.

Antoine Griezmann leads the way for the French, having totaled six goals at Euro 2016 in as many games, while Olivier Giroud and Dimitri Payet have helped aid the team’s attack with three goals apiece.

Despite starting off slow this summer, Ronaldo has picked up up the pace as the tournament has progressed, providing three goals for Portugal. Meanwhile, Nani has looked rejuvenated in the attack, adding three goals of his own, while young attacker Renato Sanches has emerged as a legitimate threat opposite Ronaldo.

  1. The moths swarming the field has been the story so far. Shocking stupidity from the ground staff at the stadium leaving the floodlights on overnight.

And yet, we are witnessing just another shockingly poor final in a major tournament. This is unwatchable. ..

  2. Don’t write off the portugese just yet. They have enough experienced players to take this game to overtime/penalties…have to feel bad for Ronaldo, though…very unfortunate.

  3. Fernando Santos should be the next USNT coach. If he can take Portugal this far imagine what he can do with out talent.
