Hyndman set to miss most of preseason with injury

Emerson Hyndman’s time with Bournemouth is off to a less than ideal start, as the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team forward is set to miss a large chunk of preseason.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says he expects the 20-year-old playmaker to miss a majority of the club’s preseason due to an ankle injury. Hyndman recently sat out the Cherries’ friendly match against Minnesota United, a 4-0 win for the Premier League side.

“Emerson Hyndman hasn’t trained since the first day of the tour,” Howe told Cherries Player HD. “It’s a mysterious one because he doesn’t remember any tackle, any knock or any twist but has ended up with an ankle injury, so he will probably be another couple of weeks. He might miss most of pre-season.

“We had a whole host of players missing from the Minnesota game through little niggles really. We just didn’t want to push them too far so it was very much a case of being conservative with them.”

Hyndman signed with the Premier League club in June after spending the past two seasons as a member of Fulham.

Bournemouth kicks off the Premier League season with a home match against Manchester United on August 14.

What do you make of the injury? Any concerns with how Hyndman will assimilate to his new club without a preseason?

  1. His last action was for the US against P.Rico, and then first practice after that he is injured is no one going to blame Jurgen.

    • Sucks for him. Preseason is where you earn a starting spot and get your chemistry on point. This is big news for Hyndman and bad timing. Hope they figure out what’s going on and get him back on the field soon!
