U.S. U-19 team names roster ahead of COTIF Tournament

As the 33rd annual COTIF Tournament gets set to begin on Sunday, the U.S. Under-19 national team has revealed the 22 players that will make the trip to Valencia, Spain.

Head coach Brad Friedel has called upon several high-profile talents including Manchester United defender Matthew Olosunde, FC Dallas attacker Weston McKennie and Hugo Arellano of LA Galaxy II to represent the U.S. for the 33rd edition of the tournament.

The U-19s will play in Group A, which Friedel and co. opening the group stage against Venezuela on July 26, Mauritania on July 28, Spain on July 29 and concluding group play against Bahrain on August 1.

The top two teams will advance to face two sides from Group B in the semifinals. Group B includes Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Morocco and Qatar.

Here’s the full roster for the Under-19s ahead of this month’s tournament:

  1. I am excited to see if John Nelson continues to impress as a fullback. He is not flashy, but so far has shown he knows how to defend well without the mental lapses we see too often. New level, we’ll see how it goes. (Also, gotta like Colby since that is my son’s name.)
