Americans Abroad: Wednesday Rewind

Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach cruised towards sealing a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage, while Tim Ream got the better of Brad Guzan in their cup clash.

Johnson played all 90 minutes on Wednesday as a Thorgan Hazard hat-trick led Monchengladbach to a 6-1 win over Young Boys. The victory seals a 9-2 aggregate scoreline and a berth in the UCL group stages, which will be drawn on Thursday.

In England,  Ream and Guzan both played all 90 minutes as the former’s Fulham took down the latter’s Middlesbrough. Elsewhere, Emerson Hyndman earned a late debut for Bournemouth, while Lynden Gooch featured once again for Sunderland.

He’s played in both League Cup games for them this season. They play Bristol City next round another Championship side so good chance he at least will be in the 18 again.

Any Liga Mx fans out there, what has happened to Santos, last in the league and in last in their Copa Mx group. No wins, four draws and five losses in their nine competitive matches.

Alvarado Ventura needs to wake up and get him a move somewhere else. I wonder the reason he has not played much is the coach or his form? Most likely his form I bet.

There were a number of rumors this past off season about Alvarado leaving Club America in pursuit of playing time. One of the options he was looking at was a move to MLS. However the owner convinced him to stay on this season with some kind of promise that if he didn’t get the playing time/exposure he desired that he’d help Alvarado find/transfer to a new team.

I do remember seeing that move to MLS. Okay, that makes me feel better the owner has his back.
