First it was on, then it was off, and now it could be back on again.

Fabian Castillo’s agent is reportedly in New York City at MLS headquarters looking to finalize the FC Dallas attacker’s move to Turkish side Trabzonspor. Reports on Sunday suggested that the deal was “dead.” (REPORT)

Minnesota United FC is reportedly seeking a deal with the University of Minnesota over use of the university’s football facility for the 2017 MLS season. The Loons’ proposed 20,000-seat stadium in St. Paul has yet to break ground. (REPORT)

The Portland Timbers have signed Premier League veteran defender Steven Taylor, who most recently played for relegated side Newcastle United. Taylor spent 12 seasons in England’s top flight. (REPORT)

Peruvian defender Alberto Junior Rodriguez is being linked to Orlando City SC. The Lions are still reportedly assessing the player’s abilities, but there is significant interest. (REPORT)

Red Bull Arena will transfer to Hudson County Improvement Authority ownership, including the 12-plus acres the stadium sits on. Red Bull will continue to make annual land rental pays of $1.3 million, which could increase per year. (REPORT)

PSG’s Cédric Cattenoy will reportedly take a position with the Chicago Fire in the near future as the team’s head of training. Cattenoy spent 15 years at the Parisian club. (REPORT)

  1. This has the possibility of being very bad for MLS as it eyes expansion. Certainly, teams will need to look to South America for talent to fill rosters and if MLS is seen as restricting player movement to Europe it could hurt their standing with players and agents.

    Clubs today are very good at using social media and traditional media as bargaining power so it wouldn’t surprise me that both sides are trying to gain some sort of advantage in negotiations through these stories.

    • Who is to say it is MLS’ fault for the on-again, off-again?? Breakdowns with Turkish clubs happen. I seem to remember before Heath Pearce came to MLS it was reported and photographed on Busaspor’s website of him signing a contract only for it to be voided 24 hrs later. Pearce said the terms and conditions were not the same ones he and his agent agreed upon..

      • I am basing it on he’s not in Turkey working on the deal he’s at MLS, not 100% indication I realize.
