It’s been a whirlwind transfer window for Americans abroad and it isn’t done just yet.

Reports out of Belgium have linked Chelsea and U.S. Men’s National Team defender Matt Miazga with a possible loan move to Belgian side RSC Anderlecht on Wednesday, the final day of this transfer window. According to the report, Aderlecht’s primary target is Zenit St. Petersburg defender Nicolas Lombaerts, while Senegalese defender Kara Mbodj may be set to leave the club in favor of the Premier League.

Anderlecht is the former home of New York Red Bulls midfielder Sacha Kljestan, who played one season with Miazga before the defender moved to Chelsea.

Rumors have been swirling around Miazga’s destination since before the window opened. The 21-year old has been previously linked to Eintracht Frankfurt, 1860 Munich, and Sunderland as possible destinations for the season.

Recent reports have stated that Chelsea had put the defender’s loan move on hold, however, as they looked to finalize several transfers ahead of his departure.

Where do you think Miazga will end up? What would be the best destination for him?

  1. Let’s hope this is the “lastest” time I see that word and in a headline too.

Anyway, good luck Matt from a Red Bulls fan!!

  2. Not a good start so far the Americans with only a few hours left in the transfer window. Chelsea still hasn’t signed any defenders, Sunderland brought in a midfielder from France, Dortmund has not moved anyone, and Zelalem still with only linked to league one Bolton.
