Americans Abroad: Wednesday Rewind

Wednesday was a bit of an up-and-down day for the contingent of Americans Abroad, but the youngest player to take the field salvaged the day with a big-time assist.

Christian Pulisic provided an assist in Borussia Dortmund’s 6-0 Champions League win over Legia Warsaw, the 17-year-old’s first start of the season. Throughout the match, Pulisic was among the German side’s most dangerous players, as Dortmund cruised to a win over an overmatched group stage opponent.

In other Champions League action, Fabian Johnson was less fortunate. The U.S. Men’s National Team star played all 90 minutes in Borussia Monchengladbach’s 4-0 loss to Manchester City on Wednesday after seeing the original kickoff pushed back a day due to inclement weather.

The lone Copa MX match on the Americans Abroad schedule proven an eventful one, as Amando Moreno earned a red card in a Tijuana loss. Paul Arriola and John Requejo each played 90 minutes in the match, a feat matched by Eric Lichaj in the Notingham Forest’s clash with Rotherham.

Comments

  1. Too bad Tijuana is out of Copa Mx the young Americans were getting a lot of playing time in these group stage games, and with Los Xolos leading Liga MX I don’t see Requejo or Moreno moving into the regular first team.
