John Brooks likely to miss Hertha Berlin’s next two games due to injury

John Brooks’ recent injury is set to keep him sidelined for one of the more anticipated clashes of the young Bundesliga season.

Hertha Berlin coach Pal Dardai said Tuesday that Brooks will miss Wednesday’s clash with Bayern Munich while adding that the U.S. Men’s National Team defender is also unlikely to feature against Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend. Entering Wednesday’s match, both Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich maintain perfect records and sit tied atop the Bundesliga table.

Brooks previously missed his side’s 2-0 win over Schalke over the weekend due to a muscle injury.

“John Brooks has muscular problems,” Dardai said. “Against Bayern, he is certainly not fit. I also don’t think he will make it to Frankfurt. I’ll count on him for the HSV game.”

Brooks appeared in Hertha’s first two Bundesliga matches of the season, wins over Ingolstadt and Freiburg. The centerback recently missed the USMNT’s pair of World Cup qualifying wins over St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago due to injury.

  1. he is our best National Team player at the moment. I can see him starting for a big time UCL club and having a huge national team career — if he can stay healthy. very concerned with the frequency of these injuries..

  2. I’m beginning to think that JB needs to start taking better care of his body considering the number of injuries he’s had to deal with the last few years. I’m not sure if it’s due to a lack of strength and conditioning program or eating properly or what, but it could be a problem going forward if it’s not curtailed.
