Klinsmann says there is ‘no truth’ to England links

The England national team’s coaching job opened up once again on Tuesday, and Jurgen Klinsmann’s name quickly became reconnected to a gig with the Three Lions. However, Klinsmann took to social media on Wednesday to shoot down any rumors of a U.S. Men’s National team departure.

Klinsmann says there is “no truth” to any rumors linking the German-born head coach with the England gig. The statement comes in the wake of the departure of manager Sam Allardyce, who left the job by mutual consent following the release of a video showing the longtime Premier League manager discussing, among other things, how to bypass rules on third-party ownership.

Allardyce took charge of just one match: a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia. Gareth Southgate will manage the next four games before a permanent replacement is named.

Prior to Allardyce’s hiring, Klinsmann was one of several managers linked to the job.

The U.S. returns to action on Oct. 7 for a friendly against Cuba before taking on New Zealand four days later.

  1. It’ll be funny when USA wins the 2018 World Cup with players Klinmann brought into the system, but with a different coach who will take all of his credit. Did Klinsmann do as good a job as he could have? No. I think we could have won some major tournaments since 2010. Not a World Cup, but plenty of non-Gold Cup tourney’s we could have won.

Aside from that, did Klinsmann raise the bar for soccer in America? Yes absolutely no arguments there. He did more for US Soccer than any coach in US History.

But I believe JK will be out of here before the next World Cup.

  2. I know everyone has their own opinions. Klinnsman has not been good at all. Loosing to Jamaica and Guatemala. Calling up injured players. Calling up Wondo and other useless players. Not giving deserving players a chance, and contradicting himself.

  3. Klinsmann has done an incredible job since taking over. A few roller coaster moments for sure, but overall he has been a tremendous influence on the sport.

  4. This job really is beneath him. He should take the England job.

He wouldn’t have to educate the dumb American soccer population anymore. Not easy having to talk down to us all the time.

    • Man I hate that stupid line. I want to get to the highest level to be the best player I can be.

That is the goal when you play pro soccer?
How about winning the championship? Why even keep score?

If that’s the objective, he still has a lot of work to do here.
