SBI College Soccer Top 25 (Sept. 1 Edition)

The opening weekend of the college season is always a tricky one, and every year we see national powers tripped up at the starting blocks.

This year was no different, with defending national champion Stanford failing to win either of its opening matches and highly-regarded Georgetown losing a pair of matches to start the season.

Not all powerhouses stumbled though. North Carolina looked every bit like the title contender it is expected to be, and Akron posted the best pair of wins to start the season of any team in the nation.

Preseason SBI No. 1 Maryland went across the country and earned a draw against a dangerous UCLA side, but in the process both teams saw their rankings take a dip.

There are some new entrants in the latest SBI College Soccer Top 25, including Utah Valley, which overcame a red card to post an impressive opening win against Washington, while Kentucky rode a pair of blowout wins to a place in the latest rankings.
