Americans Abroad: Friday Rewind

In a clash of recent U.S. Men’s National Team contributors, Timmy Chandler emerged on top.

Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt cruised past Bobby Wood’s Hamburg, 3-0, to temporarily leap into fourth place in the Bundesliga. Chandler, who has recently reportedly drawn interest from Roma, played all 90 minutes for Frankfurt, who benefitted heavily from a Dennis Diekmeier red card in the 57th minute. At the time, Hamburg was behind 1-0 due to an own goal, but Shani Tarashaj and Haris Seferovic came swiftly following Diekmeier’s dismissal, earning Chandler and co. the points.

Jonathan Spector and Jerome Kiesewetter were not so lucky. Like Chandler, Spector played all 90 minutes, but it came in a losing effort as Birmingham City fell, 2-0, to Burton Albion. Kieswetter was also on the losing end of a clean sheet, as he entered as a 35th minute injury substitute in a 4-0 defeat to Arminia Bielefeld.
