Americans Abroad: Weekend Preview

Bradley

After falling in his first match in charge of Swansea City, Bob Bradley is in search of his first win this weekend against a much more manageable foe.

The Swans fell to Arsenal in Bradley’s debut, as the 10-man Gunners held on to seal a win at the Emirates Stadium. This weekend, Bradley and co. should have a better chance at emerging with points, as Swansea host Watford on Saturday.

German action provides several interesting matchups, including several that pit American against American. It all starts on Friday when Bobby Wood and Hamburg face off with an in-form Timmy Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt, while Christian Pulisic could go head-to-head with Alfredo Morales as Borussia Dortmund takes on Ingolstadt. Fabian Johnson is also set to return from his illness as Borussia Monchengladbach faces off with Julian Green and Bayern Munich before Bundesliga action wraps up Sunday with a meeting between Aron Johannsson’s Werder Breman and Terrence Boyd’s RB Leipzig.

Elsewhere, Perry Kitchen and Hearts face off with Scottish powerhouse Rangers, Lynden Gooch’s Sunderland takes on West Ham and Matt Miazga looks to continue to feature for Vitesse when the Dutch club takes on  NEC Nijmegen.

    • There is always a concern when a bad team (Hamburg) change coaches. Unless the coach comes from within the team there are always a bit of time required for the players and coaching staff to get to know each other…and determine how they fit into how the team wants to play.
