D.C. United continues to peak at the right time.

After going down a goal on a Jozy Altidore finish, D.C. United battled back to score two straight in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday night. The win moves D.C. United into fourth place following the Philadelphia Union’s loss to the Red Bulls. In addition, D.C. now sits four points above the red line.

Following Altidore’s 36th minute goal, D.C. United came back three minutes later through the first of two Lamar Neagle goals. The winger’s replay wasn’t the prettiest, as Neagle pounced on a loose ball in the box to bring D.C. back almost immediately.

Neagle’s second saw him dart past the offside trap, leaving the pair of centerbacks helpless as he ran in on goal. Lloyd Sam’s pass found Neagle in stride, giving the winger a simple 58th minute finish with what turned out to be the game-winner.

D.C. United now faces New York City FC on October 16 for their penultimate match, while TFC prepares a matchup with Toronto FC that same day.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Lamar Neagle stepped up with a pair of goals to push D.C. United within one win of a playoff spot.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

Neagle’s second won the game, but his first won the momentum battle. Just moments after TFC jumped ahead, D.C. United was back in the game and they never looked back.

MATCH TO FORGET

Michael Bradley wasn’t at his best on Saturday, and TFC just never seemed quite as sharp without the midfielder creating at a high level.

    • Lol DLOA,
You never quit when it comes to Alti-starting-to-score and as a DC United fan and USMNT fan I was both amazed and hurt at the same time (and yes he went though a USMNT defender and GK). He set up several “possible goals” that were not finished, made a lot of good runs and never received service, and he scored a beauty of a goal.
Looks like having having Bobbie Wood, Jordan Morris, Christian Pullisic etc “champing at the bit” for the striker position has pushed Altidore’s game to another level from where he was.

      He did well
