Referee assignments set for second leg of conference semifinals

The referee assignments for the second legs of the conference semi-finals this Sunday have been announced.

Professional Referee Organization (PRO) announced on Thursday the officiating crews for next weekend’s decisive matches in the Eastern and Western Conference semifinals.

Mark Gieger returns as head referee for the match between the Colorado Rapids and LA Galaxy after serving as the fourth official last weekend for the Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls, while Kevin Stott, Baldomero Toledo, and Hilario Grajeda referee their matches having not been involved in the action last weekend.

Here are the complete officiating crews for the decisive legs in the Conference semifinals:

Eastern Conference – Semifinal second legs

  1. I think Ray Charles could’ve refer better than these guys. Anyone else notice the normally red carded kick out by Villa vs Toronto not even warrant q yellow with the ref (Pitruscu, sp?) watching directly behind him?? How many times have we seen that kind of double standard in this league, the kind that says star DP’s don’t have to play by the same rules, similar to what Marsch said earlier this year? Wish soneone would do that kind of analytical / investigative piece.

  2. One thing is for certain….. Geiger will somehow find a way to assert his influence/ inject himself into a game. Literally the definition of poor officiating
