Americans Abroad Friday Rewind: Orozco, Canouse and more

tijuana

Michael Orozco experienced a difficult week while with the U.S. Men’s National Team, and Friday’s efforts on the club level only furthered frustrations.

The USMNT defender scored an 87th minute own goal, dooming Tijuana to a 2-1 defeat to Veracruz. The decisive sequence came on a late corner kick, one which was headed off Orozco and in, leaving the Tijuana defender helpless as his team fell to defeat.

Elsewhere, Russell Canouse was the only other American to see action, as the VFL Bochum midfielder entered as an 87th minute substitute in VFL Bochum’s 1-1 draw with Eintracht Braunschweig.

Here’s a closer look at Friday’s Americans Abroad:

Terrence Boyd did not dress for RB Leipzig’s 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Michael Orozco started and scored an OWN GOAL in Tijuana’s 2-1 loss to Veracruz. Greg Garza, John Requejo, Paul Arriola, Amando Moreno and Alejandro Guido did not dress.
