Ventura Alvarado and Club America slipped past Chivas de Guadalajara, 1-0, on Sunday, sealing a 2-1 aggregate win and a spot in the semifinal round. Alvarado is one of several Americans in the hunt for the league crown, joining Leon’s William Yarbrough and Miguel Ibarra as well as Tigres’ Luis Silva and Jose Torres in the semifinal round.
Omar Gonzalez, meanwhile, will miss out, as Pachuca settled for a 0-0 draw with underdog Necaxa. The tie sends the reigning champions home due to a 2-1 first leg loss.

Josh Perez expected in the 23 man roster for Fiorentina against Inter today.
That’s exciting but what are the chances he plays, they won 4-0 last week and didn’t get off bench. You would think in a blowout they would put the younger players in when the game is out of hand so they can see how they handle playing against first team players
Serie A allows 23 players to be dressed as opposed to the usual 18 for club matches in most leagues, so its even harder to get off the bench. Josh is an attacking player so it would seem more likely for him to get a chance in a close game where they need a goal than a 4-0 blowout, but I haven’t seen Fiorentina play in a couple years so I have no idea what their rotation looks like.
