Americans Abroad Wednesday Preview: Yarbrough, Kitchen, Grossman and more

Cup competitions take centerstage for Wednesday’s Americans Abroad action.

The day’s festivities are headlined by the Liga MX Apertura Liguilla, where Tigres collide with Club Leon in a semifinal clash. The matchup pits U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper William Yarbrough against fellow Americans Jose Torres and Luis Silva, as the two sides battled for a spot in the league final.

In Norway, Cole Grossman faces a vital clash as Stabaek takes on FK Jerv in the promotion playoff. After finishing 14th in the Tippeligaen last season, Stabaek must battle to remain in Norway’s top flight in a two-legged affair with the second division side.

Perry Kitchen and Bjorn Johnsen also take the field as Hearts return in Scottish league action against powerhouse Rangers, while Gedion Zelalem looks to join Arsenal for an EFL Cup clash with Southampton.

  1. Josh Perez back with U19s for their Copa Italia Primavera victory over Juventus. Perez scored in the 81st to put Fiorentina back up two goals. Fiorentina went on to win 4-1.
