Christian Pulisic is in spectacular form heading into the Hexagonal.

The U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder provided an assist in Borussia Dormund’s 5-2 win over Hamburg on Saturday. In addition to the official assist, the 18-year-old should have earned another after helping to set up his side’s first goal in what proved to be a lopsided victory.

From the onset, Pulisic was involved, utilizing his movement to create space. Playing as a left winger, Pulisic got loose in the third minute before feeding Emre Mor in front of goal. The shot was saved, but Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang tapped in first-time for his first of four goals on the day.

Pulisic set up the last of those four goals, notching an assist in the  48th minute. After winning the ball atop the box, Pulisic poked a pass towards Aubameyang, who fired a shot to the far post to conclude his scoring outburst.

Hamburg played without Bobby Wood, who served the first of a three-game suspension after earning a red card for an elbow.

Here’s a closer look at Pulisic’s assist:

  1. Should be enough to give CP a bump back to the low 70s in FIFA next week. For some reason he dropped back down to 69 last week.

He was one of the best on the pitch, popping up in dangerous positions all day, and Hamburg had little answer for his pace and quickness other than to foul him repeatedly.

Klinsmann will still start Zusi or Zardes probably, but he might bring CP on as a late sub in the qualifiers.

    • Considering Zardes hasnt played the last couple of months because of injury, im doubting thats going to happen. As for Zusi, its not even a lock that he’ll be called in. Pulisic needs to start.

      • I guess I didn’t make it obvious enough; I was only joking. Well, half joking… Klinsmann always does something silly.

      • You don’t play with Dortmund then. Bundesliga gets weekly form updates in Online Seasons and two weeks ago he was up to 72.

His national team rating hasn’t changed because the national teams update less often.

      • And if you’re talking about Ultimate Team, he hasn’t been Team of the Week yet, but it’s sure to happen sooner or later. His card isn’t even rare silver, which is a major blunder by EA scouts. UT does get a core roster update at some point, but I think last year there was only one and I have no idea when it patched in.
