Americans Abroad Wednesday Rewind: Johnsen, Yarbrough, Grossman and more

BjornJohnsen

Bjorn Johnsen continued his recent hot streak, while William Yarbrough came out on the wrong side of a Liga MX Liguilla clash.

Days after netting a brace, Johnsen provided an assist in Hearts’ 2-0 win over Scottish powerhouse Rangers. The match also featured U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder and Hearts captain Perry Kitchen, who went the full 90 minutes in the win.

Yarbrough’s result was not as fortunate, as the goalkeeper and Club Leon came up on the wrong end of match against Tigres. Andre-Pierre Gignac’s lone tally was enough to give Tigres the win in the first leg of the Liga MX Apertura semifinals.

Cole Grossman also suffered a frustrating Wednesday. The American midfielder played 45 minutes in Stabaek’s relegation playoff loss to FK Jerv. The two sides will meet again in a second leg, one which will determine Stabaek’s future in the top flight.

Here’s a closer look at Wednesday’s Americans Abroad:
