  1. Wood with an immediate impact after coming on, nice run and layoff that created a goal scoring opportunity. Aggressive mentality there.

  2. Railhawks should be proud of their USL heritage – keep the name!

  3. I’ve heard that the Carolina Railhawks owner has identified land on the south side of downtown Raleigh for a new stadium. This would be between downtown and interstate 40. Seems like a great location. All of this also seems like another nail in the coffin of the NASL.

    • Wonder what ends up happening with WakeMed Park? The Railhawk stadium facility is a little small but it ain’t nothin’ – it’s just way bigger than most college stadiums – and there’s a huge connected practice facility to it that has some of the prettiest, best-maintained fields you’ll ever see. The local clubs control that facility – and fight wars over it, actually – but you’d hate to see a very modern soccer-specific stadium – even a smallish one – just go fallow. If Railhawks end up moving up, you’d hope somebody ends up taking over that void with another USL team but local support could be tough to find if it follows the Railhawks across the Triangle.

  4. Kind of petty on the Wilf’s part. Stadium cost 1.1 billion, of which the Vikes paid about $600 million. Assuming the other half a billion came from the taxpayers, that’s very petty.

    • I’ll believe it when they actually have it built. I’m, in no fashion, a DC United fan. I do, however, feel incredibly bad for their fans that routinely show up to a rat infested stadium and are continually told a stadium is in the works (and never comes to fruition).
