Amid rumors of his imminent departure from RB Leipzig, U.S. international Terrence Boyd has drawn interest from a German club.
According to German publication BILD, Boyd will not renew his contract with Leipzig and is garnering interest from second-division side St. Pauli.
“I will not extend with RB [Leipzig],” Boyd admitted. “Whether I find something new in the winter, or in the summer, we’ll see.”
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked to sister club New York Red Bulls. Head coach Jesse Marsch visited Leipzig and Boyd traveled to the U.S. to tour Red Bull Arena and the training ground. The forward said that playing for the Red Bulls would be “delightful,” but BILD claims that the cost of living in the New York area would be too expensive as he looks towards options away from MLS. In addition, the report says it is believed that it would be hard to return to Europe if Boyd was to make an MLS move.
Even though he is set to leave Leipzig, Boyd is thankful for the club’s patient and treatment during his devastating knee injury. He was out for 18 months after suffering the blow in December 2014.
The NY Red Bulls are in NJ anyway. What does it matter what it costs to live in Manhattan? Unless he is interested in the night life, he can find many much nicer places to live in NJ than in NYC for less than half the cost and maybe even shorten the commute. If he is interested in the night life so much, then maybe he is not the best fit anyway.
Is Germany not pretty expensive to live in? I thought NY would be cheaper than living in any city in Germany.
