The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team finished their run at the IMG Academy Cup strong.
The U-17s started and finished strong on Sunday, going ahead early against FC Florida and closing things out late to secure a 3-1 victory and third place in the tournament.
Scoring was opened by Ayo Akinola in just the 12th minute, giving the U-17s a 1-0 lead early on, and Josh Sargent would extend that lead to two just before the halftime whistle.
FC Florida would pull one back in the second half, but Akinola would end as he began, slotting home a 70th minute chance to re-extend the lead to two and finalize a 3-1 victory.
The win sees the U.S. rebound from Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham’s U-18s following a 5-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC.
