FC Dallas’ hunt for a forward is officially over. The Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup winners officially announced a deal for 22-year-old striker Cristian Colman on Wednesday.

The Paraguayan, who comes to MLS from Nacional Asuncion in the Paraguayan first division, will count as a young Designated Player. He scored 18 goals in 65 appearances during his three-year stint in the Paraguayan capitol.

“Cristian Colmán is a guy who will come here and score goals,” FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo said. “Hopefully, he can help us to win an MLS Cup and a CONCACAF championship. We’re really excited.”

FC Dallas received a decent amount of production from Maximiliano Urruti and Tesho Akindele up top last season, but the club has been looking for a dynamic go-to scorer since the departure of Blas Perez.

Atlanta United secures defender on loan from Tottenham

Atlanta United added another player to its growing defensive ranks, as the club acquired 19-year-old Anton Walkes on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

“Anton has a bright future and we’re thrilled to have him continue his development at our club,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said. “He’s a young player who’s already been part of the first team squad at Spurs, featuring often throughout the summer until his official debut in the League Cup in September. He’ll be a welcome addition to our club.”

Walkes might not be the last Spurs youth prospect to come over in the coming years since Eales has connections at the London club from his time as director of football administration.

Real Salt Lake signs David Horst

Real Salt Lake brought back one its first draft picks to reinforce the team’s defensive setup. The Claret and Cobalt announced the signing of center back David Horst on Wednesday. Horst was originally drafted by RSL in 2008.

“David is another veteran player that adds a different dynamic to our group of center backs,” RSL general manager Craig Waibel said.  “With his addition, we are much more comfortable with our depth now that we have four center backs that are capable of starting and each pairing offers something different.”

Horst most recently played for the Houston Dynamo, where he made 89 appearances over three seasons for a defense that struggled at times to hold clean sheets. The 10-year MLS veteran has also played for the Portland Timbers.

Atlanta surpasses 27,000 season tickets sold

With less than six weeks until its inaugural MLS match against the New York Red Bulls, it seems like Atlanta United fans are chomping at the bit to watch their new team.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, United has sold more than 27,000 season tickets. That is the second-highest number behind the Seattle Sounders, but president Darren Eales expects an even higher amount.

The club is expected to cap season tickets at 30,000 with an official decision coming in the next couple of weeks. Mercedes-Benz Stadium will seat around 40,000 fans for MLS matches, but the upper bowl will be open for specific matches.

“If you look at history of every club, there is a five-week run up to the first game,” Eales said. “The exciting thing for us is how high can the bar can be? We still have 5 1/2 weeks, still have player announcements, the second kit launch…”

Atlanta opens its inaugural MLS season on March 5.
