Americans Abroad Thursday Preview: Johnson, Carter-Vickers, Perez

The Europa League resumes on Thursday afternoon and several Americans could play a part in helping their team move on in European competition.

Action is headlined by a clash of Americans as Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach take on Josh Perez’s Fiorentina. Johnson recently returned to the starting lineup for the German club while providing two assists in his last three appearances. Perez, meanwhile, has found gametime hard to come by since his initial Serie A debut, having made the bench seven times since featuring for the first time back in November.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are entering on a low following a weekend loss to Liverpool. Now, focus turns towards the Europa League following their ousting from the Champions League group stages. Cameron Carter-Vickers has proven a frequent selection in cup play, but wasn’t named to the bench this past weekend.
