Americans Abroad Tuesday Rewind: Williams, Pulisic, Yedlin and more

One American midfielder scored a big goal for his club on Tuesday afternoon while another saw his team fall just a goal short in a Champions League clash.

Danny Williams scored his team’s second goal on Tuesday, leveling the match before an eventual winner from Roy Beerens earned Reading a 3-2 victory over Brentford. The goal was Williams’ fourth league goal of the season, one short of his career high of five scored last season.

Christian Pulisic was brought on late as Borussia Dortmund hoped to create something special in the game’s waning moments, but the American midfielder could do little to erase the deficit in a 1-0 loss to Benfica. A penalty kick miss from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doomed Dortmund to an opening leg loss as the team looks to rebound when they return home on March 8 for the second leg.

Elsewhere, DeAndre Yedlin helped Newcastle earn a point against Norwich City while Tim Ream played all 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Comments

  1. Pulisic had a great shot that forced a world class stop by the keeper. He drew the foul that led to that shot. I’d say he had a great impact on the game and certainly left Tuchel happen with his decision to put him in the game.
