Is this the USMNT’s new third jersey?

USMNT Third Jersey 2017

The U.S. Men’s National Team has a new head coach for 2017. It might also have a brand new jersey to play in.

FootyHeadlines.com, which often correctly leaks jerseys, released images on Friday of what appears to be the U.S.’s third kit. The jersey is a dark and bold shade of red from top to bottom, but the shoulders and sleeves have black lines while the Americans’ crest and Nike swoosh are silver. FootyHeadlines labeled the colors as “Gym Red” and “Metallic Silver”.

Third jerseys are not uncommon for the Americans, who have introduced new tops every other year to go along with their home and away uniforms. The U.S. rocked a bold red jersey with a navy blue sash as an alternative look in 2011, sported the popular Centennial white top in 2013, and then had a blue and white third kit in 2015.

While there is no exact word as to if and when the tops will be unveiled and worn, the U.S. has made a habit of introducing new kits during the first official FIFA date of a calendar year. That would coincide with the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in March against Honduras and Panama.

What do you think about this rumored third USMNT jersey? Like it? Hate it? Will you be buying one if it looks like this?

  1. I’m guessing the numbers will be blue or white or some mixture of the two, which could really make or break this version. I like this shade of red alot, I know its not the standard red we are used to but nonetheless a good color.

  2. I dislike immensely. We are the red, white and blue. not Les Blues or Rojas, or Les Blanc or maillot Blanco’s. If we do not have a Red, White and Blue, we are just like England, Russia or France or any other country who also have the Red White and Blue as their flag colors but chose to just honor one color only. Our USMNT logo is not “one nation, one team, one color”

I wish they would just fire this unoriginal marketing droid who figures we can make one color jersey’s (which are cheapest to make) market the hell out of it till idiots thinks its cool, and make ton o’ money for an insipid example of design.

    • Course…. there is the chance they might sneak in an element of blue or white in the socks and/or shorts yeah? Worse comes to worse, they can all sport a star spangled, striped do-rag.

  3. Nike Exec: “We need something different, people are starting to complain about how the kits we design are all the same”
    Designer: “How about red?”
    Nike Exec: “Brilliant!”
