While nothing major, any time a player undergoes a surgery is a tense time for a team and its fans.

Thankfully, the New England Revolution have announced on Friday that forward Juan Agudelo has undergone a successful minor surgery on a small facial bone fracture. Agudelo suffered the fracture during the first half of the U.S. Men’s National Team match against Jamaica last week. He is not expected to miss any significant time and will join the team for their Tuscon, Arizona preseason slate.

NYCFC ANNOUNCE USL PARTNERSHIP WITH SAN ANTONIO FC

With the Wilmington Hammerheads closing operations for the 2017 season, New York City FC was in need of a new USL partner for 2017.

On Friday, the team announced a partnership agreement launching an affiliation with San Antonio FC. The affiliation will enable NYCFC to send players on loan to SAFC, and will enable the two ownership groups to work closely together, a key move for the USL team as they build their MLS expansion profile.

“We’re happy to announce our affiliation with San Antonio FC. This will be an important affiliation for NYCFC with an ambitious, forward-thinking club like San Antonio FC which shares our drive to grow the game within their own passionate soccer community,” NYCFC sporting director Claudio Reyna said. “Spurs Sports & Entertainment is a best-in-class professional sports organization that New York City FC can learn from as our club continues to grow.”

RAPIDS ACQUIRE GAM FROM NYCFC IN TRADE FOR INTERNATIONAL SPOT

With MLS roster moves still not quite fully transparent, one question regarding NYCFC’s international spots has been answered.

After the team had acquired several international players, questions began to arise around how NYCFC intended on acquiring enough allotted slots for those players. At least one spot has been answered for, as the Colorado Rapids announced a completed trade sending NYCFC an international slot for 2017 in exchange for $75,000 in GAM.

ATLANTA UNITED SIGN SUPERDRAFT PICK WHEELER-OMIUNU

While not the flashy signing of recent weeks, Atlanta United continues to build its team ahead of its inaugural season.

The team announced the signing of third-round SuperDraft pick Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu on Friday. The 22 year old midfielder was selected with the 67th overall pick of the draft after completing four years as a starter at Harvard, making 64 appearances and notching four goals and six assists for the Crimson, earning All-Ivy League honors twice.

“Andrew has displayed a professional work rate and attitude during the first few weeks of training,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said. “He’s also shown versatility, displaying his capability to play multiple positions, further improving our depth. He’s earned a spot on our roster.”

KRISZTIAN NEMETH EXPRESSES DESIRE FOR SPORTING KC RETURN

Just over a year after being transferred away from Sporting Kansas City, Hungarian forward Krisztian Nemeth has expressed his desire to return to Missouri and MLS.

The 28 year old striker appeared in 28 matches for Sporting KC in 2015, scoring 11 goals, before being transferred to Qatari club Al-Gharafa in January of 2016. Nemeth has continued his goal-scoring ways in the Middle East, scoring 12 for his new club over 21 appearances.
