Soccer Thursday: Your Running Commentary

kane

The UEFA Europa League takes center stage on Thursday, as the majority of the round of 32 contests will be decided across Europe in two time windows. Manchester United, Schalke and Krasnodar all secured spots in the next round during a rare trio of Wednesday games.

Tottenham Hotspur will try to become the second Premier League side to reach the round of 16 with a win over Gent at White Hart Lane. Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach will head to Fiorentina in the marquee match of the day. The German side is looking to rebound from a 1-0 defeat to the Viola at home a week ago.

Outside of Europe, there is one more CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal first leg to be played, as FC Dallas plays host to Panama’s Arabe Unido. At the U20 level, Mexico headlines the action at the CONCACAF U20 championship against Honduras. Canada also plays Antigua and Barbuda in the other Group A match in Costa Rica.

Talk about a “what have you done for me lately” mentality. Ranieri sacked at Leicester. I guess I just figured that winning the PL and guiding your team to the knockout stages of the Champions League would buy you more than half of a season. Granted they haven’t played great but dang.

All the teams are pissed off they let Leicester beat or tie them last year. I don’t think there’s a team out there this year that didn’t game plan for their matchups this year.
