Najar, Espinoza, Elis headline Honduras roster to face USMNT

Honduras has called in several familiar faces for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Former MLS star Andy Najar is joined by Sporting Kansas City’s Roger Espinoza and Houston Dynamo forward Alberth Elis to headline Honduras’ 26-man squad for World Cup qualifying. Honduras opens the upcoming round against the U.S. on March 24 in San Jose before facing Costa Rica four days later.

In total, the Honduras squad has five players that currently feature in MLS, including Maynor Figueroa, Boniek Garcia and Romell Quioto.

Through the opening two games of the Hexagonal, Honduras has earned three points via a win over Trinidad & Tobago following an opening match loss to Panama.

    • A front 3 of Quioto-Lozano-Elis will be a handful. The rest of the team looks fairly average. All the pressure is squarely on the US so that will be a factor, especially if Honduras scores first.

  1. Looking at their club teams, so many playing in the Honduran league, you would think we shouldn’t have too muich difficulty. But the game isn’t played on paper, so let’s hope the US brings its A game.

  2. the USMNT, at home, will easily beat Houston/Motagua

    not honduras’ strongest generation although Quioto looks to be a solid player in form.

    trip to panama should be a difficult game.
