Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Yedlin, Pulisic, Gonzalez, and more

Several U.S. Men’s National Team regulars face big-time cup matches in a busy week for Americans Abroad while one can seal promotion to the Premier League.

DeAndre Yedlin and Newcastle can seal a spot in the Premier League with a win on Monday against Preston North End. A result on Monday would see Newcastle bounce right back, joining Brighton & Hove Albion as the two sides automatically promoted to the Premier League. David Wagner and Huddersfield Town, meanwhile, play Tuesday as they look to continue their push to play in the promotion playoff.

In Germany, Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund face a DFB-Pokal semifinal as they take on rivals Bayern Munich for a spot in the German cup finale. On the other side of the semifinal bracket, Timmy Chandler and Eintracht Frankfurt face off with Borussia Monchengladbach, who remain without Fabian Johnson due to injury.

Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca, meanwhile, face a CONCACAF Champions League finale. After drawing, 1-1, in the opening leg at Tigres, Gonzalez and co. return home as they look to seal the club’s fourth CCL crown.

Elsewhere, Julian Green and Stuttgart look to continue their own promotion push in a match against Union Berlin on Monday.

  1. Julian Green on the bench again for Stuttgart. What’s going on there? Enough talent to consistently make the bench for Bayern but not good enough for the 2 Bundaslega…
