It looks like Aron Johannsson’s time with Werder Bremen is coming to a close.
According to German publication Kicker, Johannsson will leave Bremen at the end of the season as the club has begun a search for replacement forwards in the summer.
The U.S. international has had little playing time after suffering a season-ending injury last year. Johannsson has played in just nine games this campaign, twice as a starter, while scoring once.
The 26-year-old was reportedly considering a move away from Bremen as recently as March if his role did not improve. Coach Alexander Nouri had told Johannsson that he had to prove his worth in training if he wanted more minutes.
However, Johannsson has earned just one appearance since the report surfaced, so it seems likely that he will be departing in the summer.
I’d look into Huddersfield or Reading, whichever club goes up. Those two clubs need more goalscoring.
AJ doesn’t score goals he gets injured. And even when he hasn’t been injured recently can’t fight his way back for even sub minutes for WB. To me, MLS makes more sense
No he needS to stay in Europe go back to Holland or Belgium
He has proven in the past that he can score goals when healthy and the Dutch clubs know it. He should go back there because he will get playing time, and then when he has scored gobs of goals then he can move back to a bigger league.
Colorado or Minnesota
He never really was healthy the entire time there. Hope he can stay in Europe, maybe in League 1 or the Championship but if he’s not going to get the kind of minutes he had at AZ, he should play in MLS.
And start the MLS transfer rumors now……
I’m sure they’ll start swirling. Wouldn’t hate the move… if he can’t find solid minutes in Europe on a decent side.
The Rapids could use a guy who can put the ball in the back of the net.
