Soccer Thursday: Your Running Commentary

The final two Champions League semifinalists will be decided on Wednesday as two perennial powerhouses look to overcome deficits in their respective second legs.

After suffering a 3-0 beating against Juventus in the opening leg of their quarterfinal tie, Barcelona has its back against the wall once again on Wednesday. The Spanish side stunned Paris Saint-Germain with an improbable comeback in their Round of 16 matchup, and they’ll need an even more improbable performance on Wednesday against a Juventus team that prides itself on strong defending.

Borussia Dortmund is also in a hole stemming from a 3-2 defeat in their opening leg against Monaco. With Monaco’s three away goals to contend with, Dortmund will need to be stout defensively while firing at least two goals in the attack.

  1. Is it me or does Dembele have a tendency to almost never pass to Pulisic. I always get the impression that everyone is happy to pass to CP when he is open or even almost open whereas Dembele seems to purposely avoid it. And I say that as a big fan of Dembele and someone who thinks that as of today he is clearly a better play than CP.

  4. Am I the only one questioning Tuchel’s personnel choices in this game? They have to get goals and he sits two of his most dynamic playmakers on the bench? No one on the field has the pace to keep up with the Monaco wingers and they are getting played off the field right now.
