Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Ream, Williams, Horvath and more

The English Championship playoffs kicked off over the weekend as a clash between Americans ended in a draw.

Tim Ream and Danny Williams both went a full 90 minutes as Fulham and Reading played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their promotion playoff clash. David Wagner and Huddersfield Town also earned a draw in their semifinal match, playing to a scoreless tie with Sheffield Wednesday.

Mexican playoffs also began with the Liguilla, as Tijuana and Tigres moved through to the next round. Jorge Villafana, Ventura Alvarado and Santos Laguna earned a win over the weekend, but it wasn’t enough to make up the aggregate scoreline in a loss to Toluca.

Elsewhere, Ethan Horvath made another start for Club Brugge, Jerome Kiesewetter scored a goal for Fortuna Dusseldorf and Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt were doomed to relegation.

Comments

  1. Is Perry Kitchen injured? I thought he was appointed captain at Hearts? he hasn’t been playing the last few weeks.

    • Couldn’t find any report of injury, but Hearts have had little to play for for awhile. They made the top 6 round, but had no chance of catching Rangers for the 2nd Europa League playoff spot so they may just be testing some of the other players.
