Fabian Johnson has found plenty of success with Borussia Monchengladbach, and the U.S. Men’s National Team star won’t be leaving the club any time soon.
Monchengladbach announced on Thursday that Johnson has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2020. The move comes just a few days after the winger said he was hoping to extend his stay with the German club in pursuit of European glory.
“It’s wonderful to be able to carry on playing for this great club,” said Johnson. “After joining Gladbach from Hoffenheim three years ago, one of my goals was to further develop myself and another was to play on the European stage – I have achieved both of them here. I’m very much looking forward to continuing along this path together with Borussia.”

“With his versatility on the pitch and his calm, reliable character in the dressing room, Fabian has developed into a leading player within the team,” said sporting director Max Eberl. “We’re delighted that he will be remaining with us for another three years.”
Johnson has made 100 appearances for the club since moving from Hoffenheim in 2014, scoring 11 goals.
Entering Saturday’s match against Wolfsburg, Monchengladbach sit in ninth place, just three points out of a Europa League spot.
