Soccer Wednesday: Your Running Commentary

It’s a busy Wednesday in the soccer world as the Confederations Cup, U.S. Open Cup, and an international friendly all grace your television and/or computer screens today.

Everything starts with the FIFA Confederations Cup. The knockout rounds for the World Cup dress rehearsal are upon us with Portugal and Chile kicking things off this afternoon on FS1.

The U.S. Open Cup also rolls on with its fifth round. The highlight match of the week features the packed crowd at Nippert Stadium where FC Cincinnati hosts Chicago Fire. That match will be featured on ESPN. Two other second tier clubs are still alive in the tournament. Miami FC welcomes Atlanta United to South Florida and Sacramento Republic venture down to StubHub Center to take on LA Galaxy. Those two matches, as well as the rest of the fifth round slate, will be streamed on ussoccer.com and each team’s website.

Finally, the Mexican Gold Cup squad begins its tune up for the upcoming CONCACAF championship with a friendly against Ghana at 8:30 p.m. That game can be seen in Spanish on UniMas.
