Bobby Wood has reportedly been a transfer target for several clubs scattered throughout Europe, but the U.S. Men’s National Team forward put an speculation to rest by committing his future to Hamburg on Saturday.
Hamburg announced on Saturday that Wood has signed a new deal to remain with the club until 2021. The move comes following speculation of a move away from the club following a successful Bundesliga campaign that saw Wood lead the team in scoring. The club originally opened contract talks with the forward in April following reports of a release clause in his then-current deal.

“Bobby is a modern, young striker,” said sporting director Jens Todt, “who has mastered the leap from the second to the first Bundesliga in the last season, without great adaptation difficulties.
“For us, not only his goals, but also his enormous running and readiness count. Bobby is a key player for our attack and a real team player. We are delighted that he wants to continue his development steps with us and has extended his contract.”
Wood was reportedly a target of several Bundesliga and Premier League sides, with the most recent team being Cologne.
I hope Hamburg signs some midfielders that can get the ball to Bobby this year; otherwise, he’ll regret not going to Koln.
Ugghh that means watching Hamburg matches next season. Let’s hope they find some midfield help.

Hey that’s cool stuff. So what if HSV are in a relegation fight again next season. As long as Wood is starting and healthy ahead of WC2018, this is good news. And if a bigger club really wants him, they will only buy up the contract if they really plan to play him. Win-win in my book.
