Yarbrough renews contract with Club Leon

A U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper has signed a new contract.

William Yarbrough has agreed to a new contract with Club Leon of Liga MX, according to esportes.mx. The 28 year old Mexican-American has agreed to an extension with the team, where he’s played since 2013, that will keep him in Mexico for the next four years.

“There is already the renewal with the club for four years and I am very happy with that and more committed than ever,” said William Yarbrough. “That was the number one priority, to continue with Leon, not only because of the way the directors and the people treated me. I want to give more to this team. The idea is to continue here, to continue giving people joy, I’m focused on the preseason and nothing else.”

Yarbrough has made 108 appearances for Leon since joining the team in 2013 after loans to several clubs while under contract with Pachuca. He’s helped Leon to two Liga MX titles while minding the net, in the Apertura 2013 and Clausura 2014. Yarbrough has also made three appearances with the USMNT, first capped in 2015, after playing with the Mexico U-20s back in 2007.

The goalkeeper was recently left off of the USMNT’s 40-man provisional squad for this summer’s Gold Cup.
