Report: John Brooks nearing return to full training

While John Brooks’ injury kept him out of the final four matches of World Cup qualifying, it appears the U.S. Men’s National Team defender is getting a bit closer to his return.

According to ESPN, Brooks is nearing a return to full training with Wolfsburg and has completed his first individual training sessions. The news comes roughly two months after Brooks tore tendons in his thigh.

Brooks was originally expected to miss at least three months, but it remains to be seen when he’ll be ready for game action.

Should the USMNT fall to fourth place in the Hexagonal, the team would face a playoff with either Syria or Australia during the second week of November.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg returns to action on Sunday against Bayer Leverkusen.

  1. Funny for sure how he gets better right after qualifying is over. I’ve noticed this over and over with the Germans. We don’t need any of them!

    • Dick move. Ger-mericans were some of our best players in Brazil. If not for Brooks’ goal against Ghana we don’t get out of group. Jones scored a terrific goal and played well. FJ played well before he got hurt. take your xenophobia and shove it!

  2. Good to hear but hope he does t rush back, if they qualify it might be a good idea to have next 2 friendlies in Nov in Europe to get some of the younger ones a look and leave the majority of the older MLSers home. Even not having a healthy Brooks back yet Arena could still bring in Miazga, Ream, Cameron and CCV. Hopefully Mckennie will be healthy by then also.
