Jack Harrison’s move to England appears close with reports saying he’s set for a big transfer and an immediate loan move.
According to the Northern Echo, Harrison is set to complete a transfer to Manchester City within the next 24 hours. He will immediately be loaned to Middlesbrough, according to the report, and will join the Championship club for the rest of the season.
(UPDATE: The move went official on Tuesday afternoon as NYCFC and Man City announced the transfer. Harrison signed with Manchester City on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

I feel I’ve really improved working under him and playing regularly in the MLS, but now I’m looking forward to testing myself in England.
“Middlesbrough are a good club, with Premier League experience and they’re in the mix for a return via the playoffs this season. Hopefully I can help them achieve that.”)
The reported fee for the deal is $6 million with performances bonuses and a sell-on clause included, per Goal.com.
Harrison had previously been linked with a move to Stoke City, but the Premier League club had seen a pair of bids declined by New York City FC.
The English winger has played in 55 MLS games, scoring 14 goals while adding 13 assists. His stock rose immeasurably in October, though, when he joined England’s U-21s for the first time.
Wait, they rejected money bids so he could go for free to Man City?

MLS site says he was going to go for $5.6 million to Man City, so what I read about him going for free seems wrong.
Obviously, I am skeptical of anything that happens between the teams and the same article says that Hillsboro was rumored to pay $8.5 million. So can Man City say no to that, then take him in $3 million cheaper from the sister club. Screwing the NYC fans?
I really doubt that we can rely on the English leagues to make sure it is fair. MLS needs to make sure it is fair.
You must have forgotten that the Yankees are part owners of this team. Man City is not playing with house money. They have to make payments to them and The MLS (as the kids in The UK say). This transfer seems like a low price but had they accepted Stoke’s offer it would have split 3 ways. So now the other 2 members get the same cut and Man City gets a prospect.
