  1. Good to see AJ back to playing, even if its just as stop-gap covering for injured players. Hopefully we’ll see him in the March friendlies with the rest of the European contingent.
Glad to see Alvarado finally getting games. While we have a number of young CB’s emerging, it never hurts to have a player with his versatility on the back-line (Can play across the back – RB, RCB, LCB, LB). He may never be a 1st teamer, but could be a nice depth option.
Nice to see Saief back to playing 90’s. We need wide mids if we’re going to field Pulisic centrally.

Now just need to get the rest of the young guys back healthy & playing (McKennie, Gooch, Moore, Stanko, etc…).

  2. Wood had two looks at goal that I saw. A header missed by about 5 feet wide of the near post from about 10 yards out. The second miss was really disappointing. He was in clear with a defender slightly behind him and the keeper coming out on Wood’s right side of the goal and Wood missed on the near post by about a half a foot. He really needed to get it on frame. If he had chipped the keeper he would have had a goal, but he tried to shoot on the ground just inside the post and missed. He seemed to work hard, but he is clearly not in good form, frustrated, and probably lacking confidence.

    • Yeah it’s getting to the point where we should probably concede that Wood’s transfer to Hamburg has been a nearly-unmitigated disaster for all involved, and it has a lot more similarities to the Jozy-to-Sunderland failure than most would probably like to admit. One can debate the relative merits of each player all day, but clearly neither was good enough on their own to rectify the problems of an offensively inept team. And now it has become a confidence problem that seems unlikely to end without a transfer… probably to a far less league/team.

  3. Yea, dude, this is by far Aron’s best contribution in years… Such a bad take. He has been mostly injured/unused the past couple of seasons. He was not fit to be brought into the national team.

Glad to see he is getting some opportunities these days though.

    • I like AJ but he’s played just under 720 minutes or 8 matches in the last three seasons. And he was on the roster for the first two hex matches.

      • Yeah… this is all getting a bit ridiculous. Guys will be scoring goals two years from now and it seems somebody will always be there to say “now why wasn’t he on the field during the qualification failure?!?!?”….. Aron has been miles out of the picture for most of the last two years. It’s nice to see him getting minutes again and showing what he is capable of, but that’s the only story here,

    • How is it possible to interprete your post as anything other than hatred for MLS. Altidore was absolutely in better form than AJ I’m 3017 and has a much better goal scoring record for the Nats. No coach in the world would play AJ over Jozy.

How convenient is it for you to leave out Wood who despite not being an MLS player is just as much at fault for not qualifying

      • We should all just be happy that Aaron is actually on the pitch! He’s been a forgotten man, but the dude has skills.

  4. Ventura Alvarado transferred to Necaxa at the beginning of the January, he’s made 4 consecutive starts (including a cup match) at LCB. This week he went 90 minutes and got a yellow card in a 0-0 draw with Toluca.
