When Scottish champions Celtic re-signed goalkeeper Artur Boruc, it was believed that its pursuit of American goalkeeper Brad Guzan would end.
Not so fast.
According to sources, Celtic is still hot on the trail of Guzan, who the club can groom to be the next starter once Boruc leaves the club. Italian powerhouse AC Milan has been trailing Boruc and is expected to make a play for the Polish goalkeeper this summer.
So why re-sign a goalkeeper just to sell him? Well, in case you forgot, Celtic is playing in the Champions League knockout round AND is fighting with Rangers at the top of the Scottish League standings, so you can’t blame the Hoops for not wanting to let Boruc leave and hand the reigns to a 23-year-old American with no European experience.
The more likely scenario would be to sign Guzan, groom him to replace Boruc, ride Boruc through the Champions League and rest of the Scottish season, and sell Boruc in the summer, when Guzan would presumably be ready to take over.
