Ante Razov scored in the fourth minute off a feed from Sacha Kljestan to give Chivas USA a 1-0 preseason victory against the Red Bulls at Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
Yes, that’s trialist and former MetroStar Diego Serna on the ball (with Claudio Suarez closing him down). That’s Juan Pablo Angel looking on in the background, with Jim "The White Shadow" Curtin tracking Angel.
The Red Bulls started out in a 3-4-1-2 formation that layed out like this:
————Angel———–Serna————–
——————–Reyna———————–
Leonard——————————-Richards
————Stammler–Kovalenko—————
Palguta————-Parke—————Mendes
——————–Conway———————-
Here are the full lineups for both teams for the first and second half:

Julio: the Revs have Angulo’s rights.
JCO has failed us and Reyna failed to provide us with any offense! Get rid of them both ASAP!
I am sad and frustrated.
Reyna should have retired unless he plans on being healthy but he can’t. He cannot control that. He has been injured for so long … what can he expect now?
Frustrated because if Reyna becomes a key in the main team, what happens when he is out injured? Another plan …
So, being that I am clear with the above. I wonder what Osorio wants to do when Reyna is not in the team … I am curious about that. Who will be there in the field? Plan for the most likely; Reyna will get injured again.
Even though I am upset with the pre-season loss I am not going whine because alot of these posts here are terrible. Just because Osorio is doing some testing during the pre-season doesnt mean he should get fired. I have no problem if they sign the Miami Fusion all time leading scorer Diego Serna sense Altidore could be leaving some time in the summer and he will miss alot of time with the Olympics and the Senior NT. Why Van den Bergh didnt play I dont know I am wondering myself but, still its the first pre-season game we still have 6 or so more. Stop whining, you can start whining again when its the begining of the season and are roster looks the same as last years.
Reyna can’t the the side of a barn. He got clear of the defenders 1-1 with Guzan but hit it wide. That was the only clear chance Newyork had.
Where is Angulo (the teenager phenom)?
No Reyna? Must be hurt already, what a waste!!
Ives, why no Raphael Wicky for Chivas?
Also, who is this Chukwudi Chijinju? Because that is the best name I have ever heard in my entire life.
Ives, would you happen to know chivas’ starting 11?
no Vandenberg?
Its kinda interesting how Red Bulls first string lineup gave up the goal.
An early goal from striker Ante Razov was the only goal of the match, Chivas USA’s all-time leading scorer taking a pass from Sacha Kljestan in the fourth minute and placing a low shot past New York goalkeeper Jon Conway. The goal was the second in as many pre-season games for Razov, who also scored Saturday in Chivas USA’s 2-0 win over UCLA.
First half llneups:
New York Red Bulls (3-5-2): Jon Conway; Scott Palguta, Jeff Parke, Carlos Mendes; Marshall Leonard, Seth Stammler, Dema Kovalenko, Dane Richards, Claudio Reyna; Juan Pablo Angel, Diego Serna.
Chivas USA (4-4-2): Brad Guzan; Alex Zotinca, Claudio Suarez, Jim Curtin, Jorge Flores; Sacha Kljestan, Jesse Marsch, Marko Muslin, John Cunliffe; Ante Razov, Atiba Harris.
Second half lineups:
New York Red Bulls (3-5-2): Zach Thornton; Mateus Anjos, Eric Brunner, Chris Leitch; Danleigh Borman, David Roth, Sinisa Ubiparipovich, Luke Sassano, Michael Palacio, John Wolyniec, Chris Megaloudis.
Chivas USA (4-4-2): Brad Guzan; Zach Flores, Mike Munoz, Marko Muslin, Jorge Flores; El-Hadj Cisse (Nick Blanco 77), Kraig Chiles, Dan Paladini, Keith Savage; Justin Braun, Chukwudi Chijinju.

I bet u Red Bull is trying to sign another foward so they can (secretly) prep themselves to sell altidore over the summer for an outrageous sum of money.(they’re probably trying find another forward to groom to take his place right now).
What Smith and Paul said.
Isn’t it weird how the USMNT can experiment forever and often look like total crap, and all is good. Yet, in a first pre-season game the Red Bulls new coach already needs to be fired and everyone is already predicting doom and gloom. Personally, they can experiment in preseason on the Red Bulls all they want. I just don’t want to see any big experiments in the USMNT’s next 3 games.
Keep your panties on all you whining girls – its a scrimmage – same as for the USMNT. And they wonder why other fans accuse soccer players of being prima-donnas? Look at the messages on this board from the fans.
Jesus Christ. It’s a pre-season scrimmage. Don’t be such whiners & complainers. Let’s see what the roster looks like in 4-6 weeks before we blow a gasket.
Who is Leonard at left wing? How did Palguta do? (and who is this guy again?) Any word on why Hunter Freeman (still injured?) or Eric Brunner didn’t start?
Man we need an attacking mid…

Leonard on the Left Wing is Marshall Leonard, formerly of the Revs cut this past December.
And Palguta is the kid from the Rochester Rhinos, who played a reserve game for the Red Bulls last year…left footed player as well
on ‘vacation at home in florida.
oh yeah and where was Jozy?
WTF Serna? and Reyan behind the fowards, damn this is going to be a long season.
Unless Osorio wakes up and puts Reyna Dema was and Kassel behind the fowards, and sends Serna packing
Way to go Ante- that man still has moves! Osario will play “his” guys no matter what- look what he did with Wanchope- the man can’t admit to error- Good Luck with him!
Reyna as an attacking mid? Uh……
Reyna behind the forwards. Grand.
I thought CR’s strength was doing all of the “little things” for a DP slot, that we uncultured fans just didn’t get because we are such ignorant barbarians?
You mean he is being expected to do “big things” (that means less lateral passing)now, like get assits and possibly shoot at goal?
We’re boned.
Another MLS manager that CR will send to the scrap heap. Two for two it will be for CR if Osorio doesn’t figure it out.
Has anyone actually watched thi sguy play for the last 5 years? Well, when he ahs been lucky enough to be on the field.
Sure doesn’t seem like it.
Then again, what choice did we have? Mr. Guaranteed contract, or as I like to call him “the albatross around our necks” (thanks Bruce) is gonna show us. Isn’t he?
Who is Leonard at left wing? How did Palguta do? (and who is this guy again?) Any word on why Hunter Freeman (still injured?) or Eric Brunner didn’t start?
Man we need an attacking mid…
Rayna & Serna WTF FIRE OSORIO
The average age of that Red Bull team is old.
Did Reyna hurt himself yet?
Thanks Captain Obvious.
Did Conway play in goal? Who were the subs?
Serna was probably given a game to show Osorio what he can do. No telling whether he’ll get a contract yet.
DIEGO SERNA? Please tell me that is a joke. Very funny Mr. Osorio, now send him packing.
Even for a first pre-season scrimmage, that lineup is down-right gross to look at. I hope I never have to see that again in any form.
haig no wonder we didnt score haha
Wow. Reyna lined up right behind the forwards. WTF.
Leave it to Metro to start the season off with a bang!! 😀
Erik, “Don’t be THAT guy.”
“Always an ex-Metro who stings us.”
Not surprising when about half of the best veteran players in the league have passed through our hands. Just wait til we trade Dema to RSL and he gets a hat trick AND breaks Jozy’s leg.
Look on the bright side, we really shut them down after the 4th minute. Osorio’s hiring is already paying off.
Always an ex-Metro who stings us.
4th minute? come on…
Fire Osorio!
