Red Bulls waive Karcz and Patterson, Dombrowski gone

The Red Bulls have waived developmental roster players Chris Karcz and Randi Patterson. The two New Jersey products spent the 2007 season on the developmental squad, never seeing action with the first team.

Karcz, a former Clifton High and Rutgers star, never managed to establish himself as a viable forward option with the club while Patterson, a forward at Bergen Catholic and in college at UNC-Greensboro, was moved to fullback and generally struggled to impress.

Karcz and Patterson join Blake Camp and Sal Caccavale as developmental players let go by the club this off-season.

In other Red Bulls news, defender Tighe Dombrowski has left camp and will not be returning. Dombrowski had been trying to latch on as a central defender, but his lack of size made him less appealing to a club that has better options on the roster.

  1. With 12 years consisting mostly of complete and utter f**kups, patience is in short supply. Other teams seem to have no problem making deals and signing players. Why is it taking RBNY so f’n long?

  2. Red Bull fans … Unfortunately we need to have patience. It doesn’t make sense to rush into signings; if we have to wait until this summer to sign the players with the right fit then so be it. It’s hard I know because I’m as anxious as you to see this team come together.

Also, don’t get fired up about Diego Serna; there may have been a Colombian connection obligation or something like that.

If Claudio in attacking mid works that would blow my mind.

  3. I bet u Red Bull is trying to sign another foward so they can (secretly) prep themselves to sell altidore over the summer for an outrageous sum of money.(they’re probably trying find another forward to groom to take his place right now).

…but honest to god out of all seriousness I hope they’re not really considering signing Diego Serna…cause if they did then i’d really feel bad.

  4. Sense we dropped Randi and Chris I have no promblem bringing in Diego Serna and Wason Renteria because that would give us great depht at forward. But, we are still very weak in the midfield and defense so I think letting Tighe go we will regret. But accoring to a article I red JCO is having trouble finding Defenders and he is willing to wait till July transfer Window 🙁

  5. So we’re cutting a lot of people… who are we bringing in Juan Carlos? ‘Cause Diego Serna isn’t exactly the answer… Lets see some meaningful signings soon

  6. Does anybody else remember Soccer America’s Ivan Gazidis puff-piece about eight years ago where he claimed — apparently with a straight face — that minimum wage developmental players would not be “churned” through the system?

    Uh-huh …

  7. Im nervous, the fact JCO thought Tighe was a centerback instead of a D-mid or fullback makes me think he is actually fucking retarded.
