U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati identified six cities being considered for the U.S. national team’s three home games in the second round of World Cup qualifying.
Washington D.C., Frisco (TX), Carson (CA), Denver, Seattle, Chicago and Columbus are in the running for the three U.S. national team home games in the second round of World Cup qualifying, assuming the United States advances past the first round.
Carson is ridiculous! They got their crappy game against a crappy team, so that should be all they get! I’d like to see Chicago and Seattle. If only DC could get that stadium deal, it would be the PERFECT place…with the actual fans and all.
Too bad he left Portland off.
As a Seattle citizen, my vote is on Seattle – we haven’t had a match here that counts for much of anything since the Gold Cup a few years back. I would love to see a game with some importance again.
Come on guys. No qualifiers should ever be held in Giants Stadium. Friendlies only.
DC pleeeeeeease
Why not Giants Stadium. Enough with Columbus and Houston
Speaking of driving piles, I hear rumors of ongoing legal or zoning issues w the RedBull stadium location that may hold up construction. Anyone else hear that.
Ives?
How about the east, central & west each get one game?
What’s wrong with the swamp? ok, northeast at least, throw us a freakin bone once in a while…Home Depot Center all the time. We might have to go help them drive those piles a little quicker in Harrison…
Ah nevermind, it says six in the text but the list does have seven.
The title says seven cities, but the list includes six. Is a city missing from the list, or is the title incorrect?
I would like to see one come to Denver. Bring these teams from sea level up to the Mile High City.
I’d really like to see a qualifier at Qwest Field in Seattle. I think stoking the flames for the MLS coming into town is a great idea.
I’d have liked to see Salt Lake City in that list. After the way they supported the team last time, they deserve some more qualifiers. I really hope they get a couple hex qualifiers, especially in the winer when we can bring the warm weather countries to the frigid Rockies.
